What this means is that not only am I enlisting in the military, I am enlisting in the Marine Corps for five years as a cryptolinguist.
This means I am going to learn how to fight, shoot (a rifle), and generally do a whole lot of things that are, well, different, than what I have done before.
I usually write a year end assessment somewhere between my birthday and the new year, but since I'll be just a little bit busy starting December first, I've made a bit of one now. It bleeds into last year's just a bit because I have moved three times since then, and if I wrote it, it is in Oceanside, and if I typed it, well, lets just say that video cards fry waaaay too easily. It also looks forward quite a bit more than usual, because it is a safe bet that I actually know where I will be the next two years.
So in brief:
In the last 1.5 months I have moved six times, averaging three months per location. By this time next year, I will have moved three more times, to Parris Island,SC, MCT school, and Monterey, CA.
Lived in three states and two major cities, in the booooooonies where religion gets really creepy, and in a major vacation spot.
Met a bunch of relatives that I never knew of.
Registered and dropped out of two colleges.
Learned how to dance jumpstyle.
Ran my fastest mile ever.
Am physically stronger than I ever have been, yet am also the heaviest ever (blame living with family - they buy food, I eat it.)
Rideshared four times.
Came to the realization that I adore drumming, even though still totally balls at it.
Worked at Starbucks.
Am a poolee in the delayed entry program.
On December 1st will be a Private First Class Marine Corps Recruit.
In this year, as with last, there were some serious issues. Last year, I lost myself. This year, I found myself, but lost a lot of time and money in the process.
The general trend this year is more positive than last year. Last year went from a kinda crappy start to a manically elated middle to an absolutely dismal finish. About half of this year was a kind of recovery from last, heh, but it has been getting better and better. The culmination of course, is spectacular.
Anyway, I gotta go clean something or practice marching or something.

Moments lost though time remains, I am so proud of what we were.
No pain remains, no feeling, eternity awaits.
